EXHIBITION IMAGES I

Alberti's Window I, 2006-2007
(
from Geome One)

Pigmented inks on paper and acrylic urethane paint, on aluminum, 137 x 1419 cm (54 x 559 inches)

The centerpiece of "Transcendental Realism," Alberti's Window I traces the passage of two different measures of time simultaneously, the cycle of a day and the cycle of a week. And, as such, for all its elaborate geometry, it actually represents the observation of the real world. In its seven sections, Alberti's Window I depicts the rise and set of the sun over the ocean - the view, in fact, out Adi Da's window in Fiji.

The Lover I, 2006-2007
(
from Oculus One: The Reduction Of The Beloved To Love Alone)

Pigmented inks on paper and acrylic urethane paint, on aluminum, 355 x 355 cm (140 x 140 inches)

The Widow I, 2006-2007
(
from Oculus One: The Reduction Of The Beloved To Love Alone)

Pigmented inks on paper and acrylic urethane paint, on aluminum, 355 x 355 cm (140 x 140 inches)

In the Oculus images, Adi Da reintroduces the figure into his geometric abstraction, relying on the prevailing geometry to frame and clarify the archetypal nature of the figures depicted. These two panels show two of the four stages – lover, bride, wife, widow – woman assumes in relationship to her loved one.
